Sling Theory: The Only 3 Wraps You Need to Know
In this workshop we will identify the foundational sling wraps and how they connect with each other. We will follow a simple flow chart that Anastasia created that categorizes most sling skills and move through them to understand how they transition from one to another. There will be both lecture and practice in this workshop and some sequences will be provided to illustrate points and help remember concepts!
Prerequisites: Some sling experience is recommended; feeling comfortable spending a few minutes in the air at a time and some familiarity with seated straddle, half-seated straddle, straddle back, single knee hang with x wrap, seatbelt, and x-back.
Anastasia has been training aerial since 2011 and has been performing since 2013. Anastasia enjoys all forms of aerial including rope, silks, sling, trapeze, invented apparatus, and sometimes lyra. She approaches teaching skills through the incremental progressions of a martial artist, informed by kinesthetics and anatomy. Her coaching has been described as approachable, encouraging, and quirky with emphasis on proper technique and anatomical safety. She completed the Aerial Teacher Training Program in January of 2016 and since has been working as a coach to help others discover the joy of aerial and their potential to fly. She enables her students to hone their abilities, achieve their individual goals, and find their own artistic voices. In her free time, Anastasia can be found drawing, making costumes, and cuddling with her cats.
