New Drops from Familiar Places - Jill Katzenberger & Tina Kalb

$55.00

SILKS/FABRIC - ADVANCED
SATURDAY 2-330 (AC)

One of the best things about fabric is how you can change up one wrap or position and discover something entirely new. Just when you think you know all the ways that your body can fall through space, you find a new plane or pathway. We're going to shake up the ginger and 360 drops to send your body in surprising trajectories. We're going to play with dynamic entrances and exits from your helicopter/wheel-downs to make them feel fancy and fresh. Let's build on what we've got and make it look totally different. Prerequisites: Ginger, 360, Wheel-down/helicopter. Co-teacher Tina Kalb

Jill Katzenberger enjoys flying, flipping, and frolicking in the air...also eating Swedish fish...but not always at the same time. She has been teaching fabric, rope, trapeze, and hoop through Aircat Aerial Arts for over 10 years and performs with Fractal Tribe and Lunar Fire. Jill is an educator by profession and teaches science-based aerial instruction with an emphasis on wrap mechanics.

Tina discovered circus arts in 2009 after hearing about them from a colleague and was immediately curious to try.  From her first aerial class, she fell in love with the merging of artistry and acrobatic skill of aerial fabric, which is her favorite apparatus.  However, she also enjoys working on the dance trapeze, aerial sling, and dabbling in cyr wheel.  Tina took her aerial teacher training through Aircat Aerial Arts in 2020 and has been teaching there since that time.  She has also taken classes with Tanya Burka, Lisa Natoli, and Terry Crane, and has extensive movement and performance experience in dance, gymnastics, baton twirling, and rock climbing.  Additionally, she is a Certified Personal Trainer, Corrective Exercise Specialist and Women’s Fitness Specialist through the National Academy of Sports Medicine.

Tina also holds a Master of Science in Atmospheric Science.  She works with people around the world evaluating weather and climate models.  The scientist in her enjoys puzzling connections between skills, while the gymnast and dancer enjoys big drops and creating unique transitions and sequences.
